The Norma Jean Sanders Free Clinic (NJSFC) began as a healthcare ministry of Kenwood United Church of Christ under then Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Leroy Sanders. The name was change in 2006, in honor of the beloved first lady. The founding doctor was Rev. Dr. David Stewart, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician with over thirty years of experience. The founding nurse was Rev. Yoruba Siddiq, RN, LPN, BSN, who was notably called in 1993 as the first African American parish nurse within the United Church of Christ.
